Years ago, I used Cool Edit which now has been transformed in Adobe Audition and has become out of reach financially. This somehow reminds me of the original Cool Edit and all features I used are there, like Mix Paste, amplify, etc. I still have to use it more to evaluate more thoroughly but at first glance, it seems to have saved my day. One feature I looked for and did not find is the ability to copy one track (say left channel) to the other channel (say right channel).
